Health Benefits and Administration of Zepbound® and Wegovy®

Obesity is a chronic disease. Hormones play a big roll in obesity. Zepbound® and Wegovy® can help make a real difference in your weight. It’s not just a matter of willpower.

Wegovy® is a Glucagon-Like Peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist. GLP-1 is a gut hormone that increases insulin production, decrease glucagon synthesis, delay gastric emptying, suppresses hunger. It signals your brain that you are full so you can lose weight without feeling like you are depriving yourself.

  • Wegovy comes in 0.25mg, 0.5mg, 1mg, 1.7mg and 2.4mg single use pens that are injected weekly subcutaneously.

Zepbound® is a dual agonist for the Glucagon-Like Peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor and Glucose-Dependent Insulinotropic Polypeptide (GIP) receptors. Similar to Wegovy®, it decrease hunger and increases satiety by regulating hormones responsible for body weight.

  • Zepbound comes in 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5 mg and 15mg single use vials. Medication is drawn up with an insulin syringe and injected weekly subcutaneously.

These medications offer a protective factor, minimizing the risk of developing life-altering and potentially deadly conditions such as heart disease, high blood sugar and stroke.

A loss of 5-10% of one’s body weight reduces the risk of cardiovascular events, improves symptoms from osteoarthritis, and prevents or delays the onset of Type 2 diabetes. Weight-loss can also improve mood, physical function, and provide better sleep.

The STEP clinical trial shows the effectiveness of semaglutide medication.
